A Quick Catch-Up

Sorry for the dearth of posts lately... thing have been crazy between the holiday prep and Steve's trip to Maryland and, truth be told, I just haven't felt much like writing or taking photos.  I know, I know, that's crazy talk, and probably gives long-time readers and friends a glimpse into the depth of the funk that has enveloped our home.

Steve's trip to Maryland was really good.  The boys did marvelously well and were a blessing to Spike, Sharon, and their daddy.  The maturity with which they are coping with Sharon's illness is amazing and we are so very proud of them.  And apparently a quiet trip to Maryland suited Sam just fine - he commented that the best part of the trip was getting to sit around and play video games for a whole weekend.  All in the name of keeping the house calm for Gramma :)

Sharon is still very weak and hasn't been able to walk at all (even with assistance) in quite a few days, but she seems to be getting a little energy back and is having longer periods of lucidity.  We don't yet know whether or not the radiation was effective or what to expect in terms of future treatments but for now we're just grateful that she's still with us.  She started physical therapy this week to try and regain some muscle strength and control and has oncology and radiology appointments next week, so we hope to see continued improvement in her comfort and abilities.

Other than that, we just watch and wait and pray and know that healing will come, maybe here in this world, definitely when she goes Home.  If you're inclined to prayer, please pray for joy, peace, and strength for the whole Morningstar family and for illumination when the time comes for Spike and Sharon to make future treatment decisions.

We got our Christmas tree yesterday and are trying to gear ourselves up for Christmas.  I promise that our normal steady stream cute photos and awkward-yet-endearing stories will resume shortly.  Cause there's nothing cuter than a toddler's first Christmas!
